I haven't posted in a while because I was gone. On the 20th we left to go on a 7-day Caribbean cruise, and then after I got off the boat I honestly forgot I even had a blog. Hmmm...then I remembered.

So, I have to say that I am not big on cruising. This was my first one, and thanks to an inner-ear problem, I am still enjoying the sensation of jumping waves in a big boat. Holy cow!! Somebody said it will get better, but it's been three days and I'm still "wavy." Hopefully it will abate soon.

Nonetheless, I learned some very important things on this trip. Allow me to share:

-One: when they say that it is a "clothing optional" beach, they mean that people may actually choose NOT to wear clothing and it is ok. So, be prepared to be mooned in the broad daylight.

-Two: when you have fish food in the water, fish will swarm around you despite your brother-in-law's best assurances that he's been snorkeling before and "the fish are more afraid of you than you are of them" and, as such, will wait until the food gets closer to the ocean floor before they eat it. Lies. All of it. Lies.

-Three: old people with walkers CAN ambulate on a moving ship in 50 mph winds. So next time your granny says she needs help getting to the bathroom tell her to imagine she's on the Love Boat and to wipe herself!

-Four: Leonardo DiCaprio is not the only one who thinks he's King of the World (and for those of you who watch "The Office," neither is Steve Carrell). You will witness at least 10 obnoxiously drunk men (and some women) lean against the rails, hold out their arms and declare themselves king (or queen, as the case may be) of the world. Funny how they forget how that whole Titanic business ended.

-Five: Speaking of Titanic, they did - yes, they did - show the movie "Titanic" on the outdoor movie screen. Does anyone else see the irony in this?

-Six: All of the people who work on the ships are foreign by design. They do not want you to hear or comprehend how much a drink costs because then you will not keep buying them.

I'm sure I will think of more, but that's enough for now. All in all, it wasn't that bad. But, I think I'll stay on land from now on.
